There are tons of browser addons, plugins and extensions that you can use to further enhance user experience, If you visit the Google Chrome webstore or the Mozilla Firefox store you will see literally thousands of addons that you can download for free. Whether you are a web designer, coupon collector, or just want to play games within your browser you can use tons of free plugins on your browser.
Don’t be overwhelmed! I’ve outlined a few that I use daily, and have broken down a few that enhance browsing security and for productivity.

Browser Security
Here are the ones I use on a daily basis, aka, first thing i do after downloading the browser is to install these plugins.
WOT– Web Of Trust: – WOT helps you identify websites based on user experiences. WOT simply shows website reputations as traffic lights (Green, Yellow, Red) next to search results for that site, i.e: Green = Good, Red = Bad . Chrome, Firefox
Peekzy – The Safe Search engine: – The addon will direct all searches via Peekzy\’s filter and provide internet users of all ages with a safe, secure portal for searching the web. You won\’t have to worry about encountering links to racist sites, adult content, virus and malware sites or just plain creepy sites! Chrome, Firefox (not available)
Agile Bits 1Password: – Full Disclosure, this one costs some mooola but its worth it, The password manager I live by!! It ties in directly into the browser, when you visit a site for the first time and login, 1Password will prompt you to save the credentials. Subsequently every time you visit the same site, you can let 1Password “replay” the credential. 1Password is cross platform and is available on Mac, Windows, iPhone / iPad and Android devices. History Eraser: – This plugin will help delete typed urls, cache and cookies. Remember removal of cookies help eliminate the number of spam emails you will get, sites track your usage using cookies. Additionally removal of cookies will block unwanted ads on sites. Chrome, Firefox
Adblock Plus: – Helps to block ads on Web sites, It can be configured to block Banners, YouTube video ads, Pop-ups and other obtrusive ads. Chrome, Firefox

Web Developer Plugin: A browser extension that adds various web developer tools to a browser. Chrome, Firefox, Opera
Responsive Web Design Tester: Test your mobile site on mobile devices.This extension reflects both the size and the browser of the mobile device. Chrome
Colorzilla: Great for a color picker and gradient generator, Eyedropper – get the color of any pixel on the page, Advanced Color Picker (similar to Photoshop\’s), Ultimate CSS Gradient Generator, Webpage Color Analyzer – get a color palette for any site Chrome, Firefox
Mozbar: Streamline your SEO while you surf the web. This toolbar from Moz lets you create custom searches, compare link metrics, highlight links and keywords, quickly expose page elements, and access other powerful SEO tools—all in-line with your browser. Chrome, Firefox
Open SEO Stats (Formerly: PageRank): Shows Google PageRank and AlexaRank of current web page, quick access to Geo IP Location, Whois, Alexa, backlinks and indexed pages. Chrome, Firefox
Firebug: Integrates with the browser put a ton of development tools while you browse the Web site, You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page. Chrome, Firefox
General Productivity extensions
Evernote: Allows a central notebook for all activities and allows you to write, and collect data in a centralized location. Allows users to create text, photos and audio notes as well as clip webpages, links, images etc. Evernote is cross platform and can be used on Computers as well as Mobile Devices. Mac, Windows, iDevices, Android, Windows, Blackberry
Evernote Web Clipper: Allows you to quickly save information from webpages such as the Article, Full Page, Bookmark or take a screenshot. I use this as my primary tool for researching blog posts and saving important how-to’s. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera
Clearly: Clearly makes blog posts, articles and webpages clean and easy to read. Save them to Evernote to read anywhere. Chrome, Firefox
iMacros: Allows the browser to record and replay repetitious work such as fulling forms. There are a ton of user created scripts that you can import and use with a few clicks. Chrome, Firefox
AutoPagerize: Clicking next is so old skool 🙂 This extension will allow you to load subsequent pages instead of clicking on “next”. Chrome, Firefox
Reddit Enhancement Suite: – If you’re a fan of Reddit, this enhancement suite is pretty awesome, allows continuation of threads, image zoom on hover etc. Chrome, Firefox

out with some plugins that I consider almost essential if you use Chrome and Firefox. If you install these plugins, It will help your kids be safer online and help filter unwanted searches and block unsafe sites. Also I’ve shared some productivity plugins that I use on a daily basis.
