You know WOT? The web is full of unreliable malicious sites, ready to trick the crap out of you. Redirect you to sites hosting malware, drop the first stage of malware (yes viruses work in planned stages), Serve up spam and ads while you browse the Internet while attempting to expose your sensitive information and keep us vulnerable.
Sound like a theme from a james bond movie? Trust me its not. Tons of friends, families and coworkers wonder how their computer has nasty stuff on them and how to be safer online..
In comes WOT, WOT is known as Web of Trust. This browser extension (Chrome and Firefox) will tell you which Web sites you can trust and which ones to avoid. Its 100{b01f91486256fe48a54520a4158956a8684902f283b92764ccf92a3f586d2525} community driven and its 100{b01f91486256fe48a54520a4158956a8684902f283b92764ccf92a3f586d2525} cannot live without.
I’ve taken this next part directly from their Web site. I don’t think there is a better way to sum up this browser extension. This extenstion notifies of scams, malware and who we should trust, without comprimising browsing speed.
Once this extension is installed and you are about to visit a site, you will see a circle next to the URL. The color of the URL indicates if the site is safe to visit and if is malicious.
I’m kicking off a series just on popular browser extensions and apps. Some of these are updates from what was mentioned here. Be sure to check out https://www.mywot.com/ for more information. I Hope this extension helps you in your browsing experience. Again this is one of the ones I install right away on a new browser.
Thanks,
-Vik
